Ore Mountains mining region

Silver, Tin, Radium, Uranium: 800 Years of Mining History

800 years of mining history line your path through the UNESCO World Heritage Ore Mountains region: the silver town of Jáchymov, birthplace of the dollar, the centuries-old Plattner Kunstgraben, a historic mining water channel, the impressive tin pits Rote Grube and Wolfspinge, and Johanngeorgenstadt, founded as a silver mining town in 1654 and later a centre of uranium ore mining.
A route like a living open-air museum – for anyone who wants to not just read history, but walk it.

Summit panorama

Nature Experience: Wild Waters, Summit Bliss and Vast Highland Moors

Hardly any loop shows so many faces: the vast summit panorama of the Fichtelberg, the quiet Gottesgab peat bog, the wild Rolava valley and the arctic-looking "Czech fell", and the dense, enchanted Kleiner Kranichsee nature reserve. Add to that open granite ridges, the species-rich Himmelswiese meadow and the mysterious Rittersgrün Himmelsstein.
A landscape that keeps surprising between highland moor, rock and mountain meadow – pure nature experience with every step.

Elite sport legacy

The Spirit: A Legacy of Elite Sport That Shapes the Region

The Ore Mountain ridge is the backdrop for great sporting moments: the Fichtelberg ski jumps of Oberwiesenthal, the former record-holding Hans-Heinz-Schanze and the Erzgebirgsschanze in Johanngeorgenstadt. At Checkpoint Rabenberg you'll find one of Germany's most modern sports facilities and the starting point of the legendary Stoneman Miriquidi mountain bike route. At the finish, your own personal best awaits – rewarded with the Stoneman trophy in gold, silver or bronze.

Getting There

📍 The Stoneman Miriquidi Hike+Trailrun runs along the ridge of the Ore Mountains in the Erzgebirge/Krušnohoří mining region, between Fichtelberg, Johanngeorgenstadt and Jáchymov, crossing the German-Czech border several times.

🚗 By car, access is via the A 72 motorway. The B 95 leads to Oberwiesenthal at the foot of the Fichtelberg. Parking is available at several checkpoints.

⛺ Tip for motorhome drivers: parking spaces are available at Landhotel Rittersgrün for €20 per night (€30 incl. electricity). For an extra €15 you may take a hot shower and use the toilets at the hotel.

Signage

➡️ The hiking and trail running route of the Stoneman Miriquidi is fully signposted. Info boards, route map, planning tool etc. guide you clockwise along the route. However, the route can also be walked or run anticlockwise.

📱 Gold starters in particular should use a GPS device with the current track. You'll receive the up-to-date GPX track after registering, no later than 3 days before your tour, by email.

🗺️ Every "Classic" starter bag includes a detailed route map of the course. This means you'll be perfectly prepared for your Stoneman Miriquidi adventure.
